How 2: Make Parisian Macaroons - Step by Step

Believe it or not this is the easiest, most fool proof Macaroon recipe I have found and believe this or not I found it on Martha Stewart's website (I say that because she has many versions of this recipe THIS is the one I endorse).

A list of my favorite fillings will follow the recipe!

How 2: Make Fondant Cupcake Embellishments - Step by Step

I found these super cute mini cookie cutters at an Asian Dollar Store (in Aberdeen Mall in Richmond, BC) and they contain shapes for just about any occasion (LOVE the little penguin), and work great with fondant.
Wiltons has some convenient ready tinted bricks of fondant and if stored tightly they will keep for a month or two.

Have fun and experiment, every cupcake is unique!

What other suggestions do you have for working with fondant for cupcake toppers? We would love to hear from you!

{Sneak Peak} Louise's Nest - Baby Shower

I love it when you don't know the gender of a baby until he or she is born, it's such a nice surprise. And when decorating for a shower the possibilities are endless!

The hostess duet for this event came up with the Feather Her Nest theme and I had so much fun with it. First of all, Easter is just around the corner so there is so much related merchandise on the market. Have you been to Michael's lately?

This is just a sneak peak as the lovely photographer - Amy, of Captured by Amy, has some photos to be posted at a later date.

Pastels, light yellow plaid prints, baby blue and purple are lovely gender neutral colours for a Shower decor ~ What are some other Gender Neutral Baby Shower themes?

The Candy Tree Feather her Nest in Spearmint {diy party dots} (love Tanya over at the Candy Tree she was SO helpful in AU - CDN transaction shanks a million)

{Sneak Peak & Behind the Scenes} Pink & Brown Baby Shower

Recently we put together a Baby Shower Package for a new family addition in another province. Believe it or not we sent cookies, cupcakes, macaroons, candies, and some sweet party printables found on the Hostess with the Mostess Blog to help celebrate. Here is a sneak peak of some of the Behind the Scenes footage.

Christmas Dessert Table

Here is a Christmas Present from me to you: Mini Skor Chip Cookies

These are a family favorite, and they have been so for years...to find out why, whip up a batch. You will replace your shortbread recipe with this classic and never look back.

2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/4 cup (300 ml) butter, softened
1 cup icing sugar
2 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cups (375 ml) Skor toffee bits (or butterscotch chips)

Stir together flour and salt.
Cream butter.
Gradually beat in icing sugar and vanilla.
Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture.
Stir in toffee chips.
Form 1 inch balls (I like to use a melon baller for uniformity), flatten to two inch rounds.
Bake at 325 F for 10 - 11 minutes.
Yield = 6 dozen

I believe I needs this bad boy to conduct business. And since I have been particularly good this year, I think Santa {slash hubby} should be more than happy to comply with this request.

Happy Bday Hubby & Happy Halloweennnn!

The only bad thing about sharing your birthday with Halloween is you can't avoid being over, over indulgent!!!
AJ is only 17 months here so we got out of trick or treating for one more year and stayed inside for a big peoples party in the warmth!
Cheers

Denim & Diamonds Charity Gala ~ Oct 22, 2010

Michelle St.Hill DeAbreu organized this benefit on behalf of the Girls In Pink Productions. After her battle with, and victory over cancer she made a commitment to herself to help bring awareness and to raise funds for research to help battle cancer here and in developing nations. It was a pleasure working with this fine lady, as well as an inspiration. My grandmother, and close friend, lost her life to the disease several years ago, so volunteering to be an Event Coordinator for this cause was something I was passionate about doing.
Here I am with the DJ's. I had THE best job working with the artists!

Styles of Birdcage Veils

This is me on my wedding day pleading with future brides "Please ladies a bird cage veil is THE only way to go!"
Don't get it twisted, buy a birdcage from me save money, and use that money towards a better photographer...

Styles of Birdcage Veils

  • Blusher Veil- a fuller veil, it is often placed at the crown of the head, where it is gathered, and the length covers the face, often down to the bride's chin, or even below. The blusher birdcage can create a kind of halo effect, and often encircles the bride's head.
  • Angle Veil - A veil that comes to just below the bride's eyes, it can be worn further back on the head, or set at an angle to cover only part of the bride's face.
  • Bandeau Veil - almost like a mask, the bandeau style veil covers the bride's eyes or her entire face. The bandeau birdcage veil is fastened at each side of the bride's head with combs or hairpins. The bandeau birdcage veil is a lovely option for brides with short hair, or who will be wearing their hair down for their wedding day.
  • Wedge Veil - Placed at the side of the head or at the temple, the wedge veil is a birdcage veil that covers only one eye
