DIY - Chair Sashes

Blue Tulle Sashes
Blue & White Organza Flowers with Jeweled brads

DIY - Chair Sashes:
It's trendy to create wedding chair decor using tulle and organza. There is a fine line, however; between shabby chic and just plain shabby. It took myself and a select few volunteers weeks to make the 75 needed for my wedding. But it is doable. Contract us to do the job if you really want this look and can not DIY.

Blue Tulle Sashes
You will need:
  • Upwards to 10 spools of Tulle in your wedding colour (by a brand called Celebrate It!)
Measure the chairs that will be used in your reception hall. Cut strips of tulle long enough to fit the seat back, tie in a knot and into a bow.

Blue & White Organza Flowers with Jeweled brads
You will need:
  • Upwards to 50 Yards of Organza (in your wedding colours)
  • Upwards to 50 Yards of Tulle (or other fancier netting) (in the similar shades)
  • Jeweled Brads from any craft store
  • A candle or 10
  • stick pins to hold fabric and pattern in place
  • Circle patterns cut from card stock (size according to preference)
Cut three different sizes of a circle pattern and use pattern to cut the different fabrics. The smallest will be the center of the flower and should be larger than the gem in the center. Use the flame of the candle to singe the edges of the organza (or any polyester), it doesn't have to be perfect, but you should take care not to let edges turn black. Simply trim away any darkened areas. Stack 7-10 circles neatly, alternating with the tulle and organza. Push brad through center (a tiny hole punch can be used but the material is easy to pierce through with a sharp end of a brad). Voila ~ a beautiful Chair flower
